I laid down next to the babbling River, my body slowly releasing it’s tension. Bird song all around, sun on my skin. Slowly, in crept the intrusive thoughts: there is so much that I should be doing to prepare for the end of the week. A tree branch cracked in the distance and I looked up to find a pair of doe eyes gazing curiously at me from across the riverbank. She stomped her foot, a warning. I smiled. This. This is all that matters. I closed my eyes and felt the most relaxed that I have in weeks. With the river flowing gently beside me I knew deep down in my sore bones that this right here is my preparation for any hurdles I may come across in the near future. Not complaining, not adding more to my list, not stumbling over myself to be supermom.. But simply: Nature’s embrace. -JL
